Ingredients:

  • 9 lasagna noodles
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes

  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 15 oz ricotta cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook the Lasagna Noodles: Cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  3. Prepare the Meat Sauce: In a large skillet, cook the ground beef, onion, and garlic over medium heat until the meat is browned. Drain excess fat. Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 15-20 minutes.
  4. Mix the Ricotta: In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Mix well.
  5. Assemble the Lasagna: Spread a thin layer of meat sauce on the bottom of a baking dish. Layer 3 lasagna noodles over the sauce. Spread half of the ricotta mixture over the noodles, then a third of the meat sauce. Sprinkle with a third of the mozzarella cheese. Repeat the layers (noodles, ricotta, meat sauce, mozzarella) until all ingredients are used, finishing with noodles and remaining meat sauce. Top with remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
  6. Bake: Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until cheese is bubbly and golden.
  7. Serve: Allow to cool for 10 minutes before slicing. Enjoy!

Notes:

You can add vegetables like spinach or mushrooms to the meat sauce for extra nutrition. For a creamier texture, mix some mozzarella into the ricotta mixture.
